Auch wenn Katharina Pfeifer und Jente Tabeling ihr Studium in den Niederlanden absolvierten, so ist ihre Musik gänzlich verschieden.\nKatharina Pfeifer gewann mit ihrem Bachelorabschlussprogramm letztes Jahr den Henriette Hustinx Preis. Nach ihrem Bachelorabschluss am Conservatorium Maastricht zog es die gebürtige Oldenburgerin nach Köln, wo Sie Teil der aktiven Jazzszene ist.\nJente Tabeling absolvierte dieses Jahr seinen Bachelorabschluss am ArtEZ Conservatorium. Mit seiner Band „Oh Wahle“ ist er zurzeit national auf Tour und spielte u.a. beim Booster Festival und brachte dieses Jahr zwei Singles raus.\n \nKatharina Pfeifer Quartet\nFoto: Frank Hirschhausen\nDie Saxophonistin Katharina Pfeifer präsentiert ihr Quartett in einer neuen Besetzung mit Sebastian Pfeifer, Conrad Noll und Ilja Tarnopolskij. Stilistisch bewegt sich die gebürtige Oldenburgerin im modern jazz mit Einflüssen von Melissa Aldana, Walter Smith III, aber auch Sonny Rollins und Stanley Turrentine.\nSie werden ein Programm aus eigenen Kompositionen zu hören bekommen, welches Ihnen durch die Sensibilität von intimen Balladen, sowie aufgeregt-hektischen Momenten einen abwechslungsreichen Abend bereiten wird.\nKatharina Pfeifer – Tenorsaxophon\nSebastian Pfeifer – Klavier\nConrad Noll – Kontrabass\nIlja Tarnopolskij – Schlagzeug\n \nOh Whale\nFoto: Maaike Ronhaar\nNoisy, loud and ballsy.\nOh Whale sends you from subtile and intimate moments to rough outbursts. Influences of Radiohead, The National and Sonic Youth give Oh Whale their unique sound. Just when you’re starting to feel at ease, calmed by soothing vocals, you’re overrun by raging seas of reverb and distortion.\nWith elements of artrock, shoegaze, noise and indie pop, the band constantly experiments with distorted sounds and textures. Like whale noises, transformed into catchy songs and rough soundscapes.
