Der kubanische Pianist Jorge Luis Pacheco verbindet mit großer Virtuosität und starkem Ausdruck traditionelle kubanische Musik und Cuban Jazz mit moderner zeitgenössischer Klavierkunst.

Er ist Preisträger des Montreux Jazz Piano Competition und des „the best solo and performance award“ im Jazz Contest New York (2017) und einer der führenden jungen Pianisten der neuen Jazzgeneration auf Cuba und hat in der ganzen Welt konzertiert. Künstlerisch pendelt er zwischen New York, seinem Geburtsort Havana (Kuba) und seiner neuen Heimatstadt Wilhelmshaven. Seine Musik spannt musikalisch einen weiten Bogen von eigenen Kompositionen bis hin zu Bearbeitungen kubanischer Klassiker (Buena Vista Social Club). Neuerdings kommen auch Bearbeitungen europäischer Komponisten dazu (Beethoven, Chopin).

Jorge Luis Pacheco spielt gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Anna Rabea Pacheco (voc ), Thomas Hempel (dr) und Helmut Reuter (b) in seinem  „german quartett“ (im Trio ohne Anna Rabea Pacheco).

Im Konzert am 9.9. im Wilhelm 13 wird die neue CD “The lockdown album” vorgestellt.
